The Book of Bibs

Hello!   My name is Melissa. Thanks for stopping by The Book of Bibs! I’m a Bay Area native, currently residing in San Jose, CA. I’m a nonprofit marketing and fundraising manager, outdoors enthusiast, sunset chaser, active volunteer, body-positivity advocate, and runner. Between my junior year of high school and second year of college, I struggled with disordered eating, and ironically, over-exercising. At my lowest, I was close to 100 pounds. Fortunately, with love and support from my friends and family, I developed a healthier relationship with myself, exercise, and nutrition, and discovered running to be a powerful tool to cultivate confidence and self-love.

In 2009, a friend of mine asked if I was interested in running a half marathon, and reluctantly, I said "ok!". I'll never forget how it felt to cross the finish line for the first time. Since then, running has been my passion and is a salient part of my life. I'm currently working towards 100 lifetime half marathons, and secretly hope that one day I'll turn this experience into a book (hence the name of this blog, "The Book of Bibs").
